The Peer Support Kōkua Project (PSKP) is a vocational, leadership and training opportunity to focus on the genius of those with lived experience, seeking to support others involved in the child welfare and criminal/juvenile justice systems. Native Hawaiian Justice involved women are a focus to help those transitioning from incarceration, along with Parent partners to help those within the Child Welfare system, and finally young adults, to assist those transitioning from the Hawaii Youth Correctional Center. Training, support with internship placement, help with getting full certification with the Dept. of Health, assistance with employment placement, and being part of a growing peer support professional support group are also part of PSKP. Congratulations again to our four trained peer support specialists from Hilo - great work everyone, including all of the trainers!
