Hawaii - Reflecting on 2023 - giving thanks, and looking foward to 2024!

Keiki Day event at the Women’s Community Correctional Center - Dec. 2023.

2023 highlights included:

Serving justice involved women and their families: events and courses offered - such as Keiki Day - see above at WCCC, PreTransition courses taught at WCCC, the Federal Detention Center, and Hawaii Youth Correctional Center, as well as the Cultural Healing & Well-being class at WCCC. Conducting Peer Support - training, assisting with certification, and employment. Operating a transitional program at the Mercy House for women exiting prison. Community organizing with Oahu Going Home Consortium - involving public, private and faith-based volunteers, and hosting the SAMHSA Sequential Intercept model workshop with a female focus along the 5 intercept areas of: Intercept 0 - Community Services, Intercept 1 - Law Enforcement, Intercept 2 - Initial Detention/Initial Court hearings, Intercept 3 - Jails / Courts, Intercept 4 - Reentry, and Intercept 5 - Community Corrections.

Engaging in mālama ʻāina and mālama kanaka efforts - thru our Waimanalo Community Farming project and Punahoa Heritage Forest initiative. Finally we are proud of our Community Educational Resource materials with the Ua Mau Ke collection, uplifting Hawaii’s past, our history, and our leaders - hundreds of textbooks have been distributed to schools, students, and the community.

There is much to be thankful for. We look forward to a full and productive 2024 - starting the year off with the Mana Wahine ʻEhā 2024 conference.

Looking forward to MW4 - 1/9/24-1/11/24
